ICS is the proud beneficiary of a grant from the Oregon Community Foundation to expand outreach services to eligible DACA applicants who live outside the Portland metro area. In partnership with Sponsors Organizing to Assist Refugees (SOAR) and Catholic Charities Immigration Legal Services, ICS will use the grant to conduct free information sessions and screenings for young people in Washington, Hood River and East Multnomah counties who may be eligible for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) throughout 2014.
Since the program went into effect on August 15, 2012, thousands of Oregonians who were brought to the United States as children have acquired protection from deportation and work authorization through DACA. Many more in the state are eligible to apply for DACA, but have not applied for lack of reliable information or access to affordable legal services. With the support of the Oregon Community Foundation, ICS and its partners are working to improve access to information for under-served DACA eligible Oregonians and to support their informed journey through a successful DACA case.
ICS would like to thank the Oregon Community Foundation for its generous support!
