May Day Virtual DACA Renewal Clinic

Dear Friends,ICS will be offering a May Day Virtual DACA Renewal Clinic on May 1st for dreamers to renew their Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status. ICS is offering this free legal clinic in partnership with Catholic Charities, SOAR Immigration Legal Services, Causa, Latino Community Association of Central Oregon, PCC Dreamers Resource Center, PCC Paralegal Program, Community Services Consortium serving Linn, Benton and Lincoln Counties, and many more outstanding organizations. The fate of DACA remains uncertain. Following the September issuance of a Department of Homeland Security memorandum rescinding DACA, several lawsuits were filed challenging the legality of the program’s termination. The U.S. Supreme Court is reviewing these federal court cases and is expected to issue a decision about the legality of DACA’s termination by June 2020. Under the nationwide injunctions currently in place, USCIS must accept applications only from individuals who were previously granted DACA.ICS is the lead organization in ensuring that all current and former DACA recipients in Oregon apply for renewal before the Supreme Court decision. During this free clinic, skilled immigration attorneys will join with the ICS legal team to complete and file applications for qualified applicants to renew their DACA status. For those applicants struggling to pay application fees, ICS can help through the recently launched Immigrant Legal Relief Fund.It was immigrants who brought the tradition of International Worker’s Day to the U.S. This May Day we plan to honor immigrant workers, many of who are on the frontlines of confronting the public health crisis in Oregon as health care workers and as essential workers who harvest and prepare our food, deliver our groceries, and care for our loved ones. This May Day we will honor that work by helping dreamers renew their DACA status before the Supreme Court’s pivotal decision. Please help us spread the word about our May Day Virtual Renewal Clinic. And if you can, please support the Immigrant Legal Relief Fund. Mil Gracias,Frank GarciaExecutive Director
